Design in Web Design

Do we really need "interesting" design to sell something?
Eye-catching desing, wow-effect animation, unique hand-drawn icons... I'm here to discuss the nesesserity of all this things for small business.
Yes, I'm a web designer and i really do think that not everybody needs a "design".
I've been making websites for 6 years. Mostly I work with small businesses: local shops, small IT startups, private teachers, etc. Most of them need a website to make their business (and life at all) easier.

What does it mean?

Small business, even at the very begining, is a very time consuming job. I really like the jokes based on narrative "I didn't want to work 9 to 5, so I started my own business and now I work 24/7". This is 100% true: even if you don't do something, you think about your work. You cannot just leave your work, you know. You always take it home: for the weekend, to the bathroom, under the pillow.
I didn't want to work 9 to 5, so I started my own business and now I work 24/7
As a web designer I cannot make you forget about your duties. But I can make a website which could unload your brain though.

Just a few ideas: make a F.A.Q. page and cut 1-2 hours a day spent on texting. Or let's develop a cost calculator for your services so you do not waste time on manual calculations. Get all requests/orders on the website and store them in one place so that you're not afraid of forgetting something.

They say "time is money" but for small business time is life. The more free time you have the more productive you become. Beeing overloaded with hundreds of thoughts will do you no good. So let's declutter your brain!
I feel I can make a small business owner's life easier. Like, you know, this is the main purpose of making a website. 'Cause if we start discussing rotation speed of the star on main page or number of pixels in the illustration for the cart... Yes, it will take time. And load RAM memory of a business owner (and it's already overloaded as we remember).

Why do extra features if the website makes it's job with basic design? Why think about complicated animations if our main purpose is simplifying?
Why think about complicated animations if our main purpose is simplifying?
You may say I'm a dreamer... but I'm not the only one. But I see a lot of simple, clear websites which actually work for their owners. Nothing complicated. Don't spend weeks on making illustrations and "playing with fonts".

There is only one thing.
Logic.
Yes, your website should be build logically! And this is what we need to focus on.
And not on the round radius of the menu bar (mine is 40px, btw).

developers' landing page (EN)
Softmotions specializes in Web, Mobile, and Blockchain development. They needed a quick, informative site serving as a business card with contact details, project descriptions, a blog, and a contact form for development inquiries. This site effectively presents their expertise and allows potential clients to reach out for services directly.
informational website (FR)
A practitioner of Ayurveda from France wanted to centralize all information about her services in one place. The site provides detailed descriptions of her offerings, shares her background, and builds trust. After browsing, visitors feel confident in her care and are encouraged to book services.
online shop for local florists (RU)
LU Flowers, a local florist company, needed a site for International Women's Day to manage the surge in orders. The website showcases their floral designs and other goods, delivery, and payment information, and allows customers to place orders with preferred delivery times. Florists just receive notifications on Telegram, saving time on customer interactions.
educational website (RU)
Lyubov Shraibman is a doula, researcher, and course creator. Her website consolidates information about her consulting services, book club for doulas, and various courses. The site is an educational hub where clients can purchase webinars and courses on pregnancy and childbirth, automating access and allowing Lyubov to focus on her research.
landing with online booking widget (RU)
This site was made for local epilation studio. They needed to expand their client base so we made a page with a full information: common questions, prices, and online bookings through an integrated widget. Also the website has two different designes: men's section features a bold, dark aesthetic, while the women's section offers a light, gentle look. So the company can make two absolutely different advertisement campaigns.
